Be surprised by St Neot(s)!
St Neots Museum is a small gem: a former police station and court house, with objects from neolithic to the modern times, including the Kimbolton hoard of about 40 BC Celtic gold coins. We start with refreshments and a talk on the town’s history before exploring the collection. Outside wander round the Market Square and see how relatively unspoilt it is, almost every building listed and still with a carriage arch.
After a break for lunch (meal not included) we visit the Grade 1 listed parish church. The Vicar will introduce us to it and to its superlative series of 19C stained-glass windows depicting the life of Christ by John Hardman Powell with one by C.E. Kempe in 1900. Its original oak roof has angel and beast carvings.
Join the organisers for lunch in a pub or bring a picnic. Walking distances from one place to another are less than half a mile.
