EXPLORING CHURCHES and finding the unexpected

Tuesday, 12 August 2025, 10.30-4.30 (Event Number 2507)

Four churches near the Western edge of Cambridgeshire, each beautiful in its own way, and each with something unique. Starting in Ashwell in one of the largest in north Hertfordshire, then to nearby Guilden Morden, just in Cambridgeshire, with a very  unusual screen. Lunch (not included) will be in Potton at a pub of your choice – see joining instructions.

Gamlingay is next: another large church with several interesting features.  Then lastly Cockayne Hatley in Bedfordshire: completely done over between 1820 and 1840 with some of the best 13th-century stained glass, good 14th and 15th century monumental brasses, and fine 17th century Flemish pews, screens and organ case.
