Textile Collectors of the Fitzwilliam Museum

Thursday, 9 February 2023, (morning talk; Event Number 2302)

The Fitzwilliam Museum is home to a wide range of textiles including important collections of embroidered samplers, of Greek Island and Ottoman embroideries, and an extensive study collection of Chinese and Japanese textiles. Their sensitivity to light and the lack of suitable space in the galleries mean they are infrequently on display. We will be introduced to them, and to the principal collectors whose passions and generosity have enriched the Museum, in a morning talk led by Carol Humphrey, Honorary Keeper of Textiles at the Fitzwilliam.
